Phoenix Model Flying Club (Dorset) is here!

We are a small friendly club and operate from a beautiful farm site just outside Wareham in Dorset on the south coast of England; beautiful Thomas Hardy country!

As you will be aware, we are affiliated to the BMFA and our first priority is safety followed closely by a desire to enjoy our hobby to the full!

We fly principally fixed wing radio controlled model aircraft, aerobatic, sport, scale and gliders to mention but four types; both ic and electric.

Provided below is a description of our pre-covid activities. Unfortunately we have had to cease evening meetings until further notice. Hopefully, we will be able to resume “normal operations” during 2021. Meantime, we continue to fly whilst observing government “outside gathering” rules and guidelines.

The Club meets every month at a Wareham community hall on the second Thursday, members arriving from ~7:30pm. We commence with a “formal” session at 8:00pm during which club matters and developments are briefed by the Committee and discussed. A “coffee break” follows (during which the real business is done!), after which there is normally an informal presentation or activity regarding one or two aspects of our shared interest. This may last 30 to 40 minutes. Wrapping up time is usually between 9:30pm and 10:00pm.

We offer free tuition for beginners, guiding them through to the BMFA “A” qualification level using the “Buddy-box” system and later to the BMFA “B” level.

Please come and join in with the fun!

Meantime, if you would like to learn a little more about us, or apply for membership, please click on the “Contact ‘….” tab and forward an email to our esteemed secretary who will be delighted to correspond!
