Phoenix Model Flying Club (Dorset)

We are a small friendly club and operate from a beautiful farm site just outside Wareham in Dorset on the south coast of England; beautiful Thomas Hardy country!

As you will be aware, we are affiliated to the BMFA and our first priority is safety followed closely by a desire to enjoy our hobby to the full!

We fly principally fixed wing radio controlled model aircraft, aerobatic, sport, scale and gliders to mention but four types; both ic and electric.

In common with most other UK model flying clubs, we are getting our operations “back on the road” post Covid and doing well. Whereas, for several months, we operated a limited attendance regime at our flying patch, we now enjoy the freedom of 30 attendees maximum at any one time with no am/pm restrictions outside our established Landlord Agreement. We can fly all day!

The Club committee has been working hard to fully refurbish our cherished “airfield” post mole damage and Covid and the efforts have borne fruit. We all look forward to a most enjoyable 2023 flying season. (Members please note:- Under no circumstances must we access our flying site prior to our landlord agreed start time of 10:00am.)

The committee recognises the value of evening membership meetings to discuss items of interest and enjoy each other’s company. With the backdrop of coronavirus, such gatherings had to cease in 2020. Like many other organisations, we are aiming to at least hold meetings on a quarterly basis. Keep watching the “Latest News” posts for, umm, news!

We offer free tuition for beginners, guiding them through to the BMFA “A” qualification level using the “Buddy-box” system and later to the BMFA “B” level.

Please come and join in with the fun!
