Last chance……..!

Toward the end of the day.

Today witnessed a “Rush to Arms” at the flying patch, our last opportunity to fly before the English four-week lockdown commenced.

The on-line flying-slot booking system worked well with eleven of the possible twelve slots taken up; six am, five pm.

With near perfect conditions, the flying time was well employed and everyone (almost!) enjoyed a good flying session.

almost“…?! Keith was in attendance, equipped with his ic CF Wot trainer and Roly on the other end of the Buddy-lead. With a number of good training flights under their belts, it was time for the “last one”; often a feared trip! What had not been fully appreciated was that the sun behind us was now at a low elevation. A gentle breeze from ~the North required a landing approach from ~the South; just in case you were not aware!!! 😉

So, as you guessed it, into the sun Keith accidentally strayed. Roly, also blinded, ~took control, into the trees, out of view, vertical climb out of the trees, more cavorting around, into the trees and out of view, vertical climb out again and suddenly – dead-stick! Brilliant roll off the top by Roly, two circular gliding orbits of the patch followed by a superb landing on the grass. Well done Roly, model unscratched and still in one piece! To quote the Apollo 11 controller after the landing, “We were all breathing again”. A most excellent series of aerobatics! The photos below record some of the activity. Might that be a sweat break-out glistening on Keith’s cheek?

All going well!
Oh no!!!!! (That is perspiration!)
Roly saves the day!

To all club members, please stay safe and do everything you can to avoid this dreadful virus. See you all back at “the flying patch” soon. Now, off to the hangar…………………..
