Last Sunday provided excellent weather for model flying and our membership took the opportunity to make use of it. Chilly or not, it was a day enjoyed by all who could make it. At its peak, our car parking area was full; tells you something!
The small photo collection below tells some of the story; the air was pretty busy at times. The most entertaining session was when we had three EDF Jet Cats tail-chasing around the site. Sadly, on a later flight, Steve’s JC suffered a control disconnect and is no more. But Steve had no such problem with his expertly flown Hawk as the photos below bear testament.
2022 Gliding Competition
Going back to 2022, April 17th saw Darren Bumpass’s glider competition start up and continue to run over the summer months – with the elements occasionally performing their usual frustrating interventions! As his skill would have it, Darren took the final top-place whistle, so he is to be congratulated on all fronts! Darren was closely followed in second place by our intrepid Secretary Simon Cragg. Below are photos of our two supreme gliding aviators being presented with their prizes at our recent AGM by our humble Chairman, David Watson. We look forward to witnessing the top-spot duels through 2023!
Flying Times
Regarding allowed flying times at ‘our patch’, we are now out of our Saturday winter restrictions (Effective date 3rd February), so flying is now permitted on that day of the week until autumn. A current permitted flying-times listing may be viewed by clicking this site’s Winter Flying Times tab above.
