Flying Patch Maintenance

By | June 1, 2021

Those of us who were able, turned out last Sunday morning to give our little airfield a measure of TLC. Molehill remains were “levelled” and balding and uneven areas treated similarly so. (This did not apply to attending members of course!) Resident topsoil adjacent the parking area was wheel-barrowed to the needy “grass” areas by a fleet of able bodies, dumped and evened out by a raking team to an accuracy of ±1mm; well, that’s what we were aiming at! The TLC’d areas were seeded and then rolled by member Fuzz driving the club’s John Deere velocipede which towed a small roller.

We now await a little moisture to help the seed along and look forward to en excellent summer’s flying from a similarly excellent airfield!

A pair of photos taken on the day are presented below. Thank you everyone for your splendid efforts!

Some of the workers at tea break!

………and an earlier action shot. Secretary “Hercules” Simon demonstrates how to simultaneously barrow, spread and roll topsoil in one easy operation. Meantime, Fuzz rolls along on his John Deere thinking about his next application letter to Santa; whilst the raking team, uhh, rake.

All hands on deck!

Thank you again for everyone who could make it!
