Return to the Air!!

By | March 28, 2021

All being well, we will be able to commence flying again at our patch on Tuesday 30th March! Had we landlord’s permission to fly there on Mondays, it would have been a day earlier on the 29th. Only one more day!

We are now back on summer flying times. A reminder……

Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays – 10am until 7pm until October 31st. Please note these are site entry and exit times, they should not to be confused with flying times. Normal procedure is to cease flying activities by 6:30pm, pack up and depart by 7pm latest. Please note also that landlord’s permission to fly Tuesdays was given on the understanding that it would last for the duration of government Covid-19 social restrictions. Members will be advised when Tuesday flying is to cease.

Whilst social restrictions remain in place, we will continue to use our established booking system and associated rules. Current guidelines limit attendees to six persons maximum at any given time.

Regarding returning to flying, members should conduct a full “MoT” on their models prior to the great day! The BMFA have come up with a pre-flight check list guide, it is reproduced below –

  • Is your airframe in good condition?
  • Are your control surfaces/linkages firmly attached and moving freely?
  • Have you checked your radio and batteries?
  • Have you prepared a model that you’re very comfortable with for those first few flights?
  • Are your registration and competency up to date?
  • Have you renewed your club membership?

Please pay heed.

Happy flying – safety is no accident!
