PMFC Supports Local Charities.

On Sunday 21st July, a charity fund-raising event took place at Kingston Barn farm on the Isle of Purbeck. Billed as a smaller Kingston village-based event, our club was invited to be part of it, not in the flying sense but to provide an attraction by way of a static model display; we were of course happy to oblige.

On the sunny and warm day, those members that were able to attend, brought their models along and populated the top surfaces of the three large hay bales provided. The overflow had to be satisfied with the adjacent grass!

A diverse collection of model types was displayed, ranging from a Neiuport Schneider Trophy winning float-plane (circa 1913!) through to a rather more sleek looking EDF F-22. There was something there to attract all tastes and this was borne out by the visitor interest and wide array of questions received. With the attendant club members kept busy, it was clear that the display was very much appreciated by the visitors. Several club “Biz Cards” were taken up so as, a secondary outcome, it was good PR for our club too! We may even acquire one or two new members as a result of our attendance.

All round, it was a good day and the organisers were happy that it had been successful in realising a useful four figure contribution toward charity funds – we were pleased to help!

The charities to benefit were the Swanage Stroke Club, the local wing of the DOE organisation and the Swanage Food Bank.

The static display. Peter, Darren and David look on!
