After experimenting with the “GoPro” on various models over the years, I found that it had various shortfalls:
It had a HUGE field of view, which when mounted on a model, made people (and models) look tiny when filming air to air or air to ground.
It did not have a screen, so was a bit awkward to line up on the model.
A bit bulky.
Expensive.
Anyway, I thought I might try a cheap Dashcam a go, shooting at 720p in 5 minute bursts.
I removed the cockpit from my Vampire EDF and made a platform for the camera.
It made no real difference to the flight envelope, and the video was shot on a gusty day. Have a look at https://youtu.be/c1lCz4J2jAQ
All in all, I am pleased with the results so far, the next stage is to try filming at different angles etc.
